Well, I've had an hour to spare so I've knocked up a quick template for the redesign in Photoshop. Feedback please!

It's interesting...to be honest I neither love it or dislike it but I think it is going to take some getting used to.
It'll probably look even better once we get the writing and threads and all of that up. This is just a background.
It's unique. I'll give you that.

I have to say too much. I think it'll clash.
It my work with a cleaner middle (one font, or a clean image without the black marks featured in the pic posted), and as a fixed background (forum scrolls).

Yeah, I was thinking of taking out the center background and replacing it with just a flat grey. That image is fairly heavy on file size also.
Also, I should have specified... That's the template for the main site. The forum will look different.

If that's the case, I'm willing. Only way to know for sure is to test something out anyway.

The forum colour scheme will change aswell as all icons and graphics, but the layout will remain.
Of course, the final say on the design is up to the members.

It is way too clashy, very sort of heavy. I was thinking more smooth lines.

New design is quite different from the one posted above. Check this out...

Should be finished soon.

Can't say it's my favorite, but I'm getting tired of the blue, and the change will be most welcomed. I see the personal flavor in the graffiti style. I like the layout. I prefer the 3 column system (which is what I'm most likely going to be using for my personal site - not up and running yet, but soon).
I do question the second box layer in the middle (the dark box below the box containing the words).
EDIT: But it's your site! ;-) I'm guessing it might look better when there are more articles listed.

But it's not my site... Me, DD and Diz run the site, but the members make the site. It belongs to all of us so criticism is welcome!

I meant yours as a moderator/designer. I didn't know Diz helped with the site...

It is not bad, not bad at all. I think you should move the center box a little down and get rid of the grey/black borders it has. The colours could be a little less clashy as well.

After seeing a live version of the site, I say, it looks a lot better than the screenshot gives it credit for. Can't wait!

I like criticizing stuff...
Lacks contrast (depth).
The red/green looks bad. Christmasy... sorta?
Maybe on the bottom of the banner... put a drop shadow or glow, and then seamless integration with the solid color BGs below it. Or atleast a nice thick [black] border (3px).
Just seems really flat... which I don't care for, personally.
Also, a bit more grunge wouldn't hurt.
Well, we all have tastes. If you had come when the new style was active, you probably wouldn't be as vocal about it, and vice versa. People can only discriminate in comparison to something. That said, I disagree. The page jumps out a whole lot more than the previous frontpage, especially the rorta.net image.

There's not much left to be done, but I don't even have time to scratch my balls... All I can say is as soon as possible
