I don't know if I've ever actually picked up an issue of Green Lantern. Never see them outside of JLA. Hmm. SHadowpact is pretty good though.

Right now I'm reading Superman: Birthright. What a disappointment.

Batman, always the original Batman. I am a huge fan, a fanatic almost.

I remember him comming to my birthday when I was 5, I was robin and it was cool. lol.

But I love the crossovers where Batman meets Superman or stuff like that. Never was a huge Superman fan but the Justice league was a cool show. lol.

I am not sure of the authors, unless we can talk about Japanese Manga (at which point I know SHITLOAD of stuff about it). All I know is that I love to read Batman ^-^

"Batman was co-created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger"

There we go! I love them, then. I love those older 30s, 40s, 50s comic books like mad. The new ones are kind of crappy.

New batman, crappy? Anything but. Issue 663 was amazing! Grant Morrison wrote it. It was a totally new style. He wrotei t as a short story, but had CGI images placed on almsot every page of the events going on. Although I really don't like this format, and hope I don't see much more of it on his arc (Morrison is amazing, but he should keep it to comic books), I was a huge fan of the CGI Joker. There hasn't been such an interesting portrayal of the man, in writing and in text, since Arkham Asylum. Loved it. Grants writing is a little over-descriptive though. I got the feeling he was writing it to give the artist hints, and decided last minute to go the route he did.

I mean what WB did to it and made it a solid cartoon and short comic. It has no feeling whatsoever now. Just another wonderful comic-tunred-shitty corporate cartoon for 5 year olds.

I am going to have to google this one and check it out, I love that format. And being overly discriptive is never a bad thing when It makes up/helps you imagine for visuals.

Sounds kick ass and yes, Grant Morrison is a very notable face.

"The Batman". Worst idea for a television show ever. It gets worse every year. I used to love "Batman: The Animated Series", but I can't believe how bad it has gotten since then. Terry McGinnis taking over the mantle in Batman Beyond was bad enough. Calling the Joker "J-Man" and using the same base shape for Batgirl AND Catwoman was terrible. The whole show is terrible really.

And then "Lustice League: The Series" I really dont like how they have no character whatsoever.. I mean. the reason why I love the old comics is because they are so mindblowing and the shades and colors and great.

The new solid coloring is just SHIT.

Get what I mean?

And the only Batman Movie I ever liked was Batman (the original: POW BANG, POP!)

But yes, anyway, I love older comic books who retain their original artwork and value. Spiderman wasnt too bad either!!

I actually love Jim Lee's artwork. Mostly for his sketching. He could sue better inkers, but does a fantastic job for himself. Since Adam West played Batman they have tried to use as much black and grey as possible to avoid the same campy image, and give him off for a more serious detective persona. I like the bulk and depth jim lee adds, giving tone to almost every aspect of an image.

I love Jim Lee too. Great great great artist, his shades and inking are amazing.

He gives all of his characters attitudes, I love it!

But that new WB lustice league crap is... well... crap ^-^;

Love this with a passion!!:

If only they could make an animated series that used that depth and passion.

These shows are not exactly high budget. Theyre being aired on Fox Kids! and WB and other channels of the same nature. The Comic Book Industry puts very little of their time or money into it. They want a younger audience so they hire anyone willing to do a TV series on their more famous characters. It reels the kids in, or so they wished, to comic books. In reality kids watch it and then think nothing more. Comic book fans watch it and grow completely disappointed with the work that is being done. So, in turn, the industry puts out a new show. Its why there was a new power rangers theme every year, a new batman theme every year, a new justice league theme every year, and a teen titans show playing off of the latest manga phase.

Thats true.

But I just have a problem with them basterdizing some of the greatest comics of all time.

You know... Oh well... They are shameless, SHAMELESS I say!

How the fuck did I miss this thread?!?!?!

my favorite ongoing series (though it about to come to an end) right now is Astonishing X-Men. One of the best X-Books I've read in a very long time. Joss whedon does some fuckin a righteous shit knitting the characters together and displaying their individual personalities, and reminds you that the x-men are in fact, astonising. I have Kitty Pride and collusus from the cover of number 6 t(portraying them lovingly reunite when peter is brought back from where they all thought he was dead) tattooed all down my calf. picture brought tears to my eyes.

Batman? hell yeah. Love batman, not that I've been reading any current titles, time and money I haven't had (well time today has been in spades, but whatever), but my favorite batman story ever is a toss up between dark knight returns and no man's land. ark knight returns is hard to deny because even if the story had sucked (and it didn't) it would still be great for te way bats throws down with supes in the end. brilliant.
Superman? Hate him. I realize that this is a different age for comics and his character is gaining depth daily and that the right writers will push a superman story that would take my breath away, but I can't break away from the generic do-gooderinvulnrable bullshit that in my opinion held public opinion of comics own for a very long time.

Have you guys bbeen following the civil war at all? it was the shit. bits and pieces were ify and annoying, but the core of the shit was fantastic. I hate tony stark now, but it was all worth it to see his breakdown in the Confession where he tells us it wasn't worth it.

Hulk. Never been a huge hulk fan except for is run-ins with wolverine, but planet hulk (i just read it in its entirety) was fuckin a right, and the way it lead into 5the up comming world war hulk series comming next month was righteous. the hulk is pissed, has friends, and is comming to destroy every last puny human on the earth... and who is going to stop him? I'm ready.

Wolverine is probably my favorite character even though his story "origins" is kinda petering out, losing its intensity and pissing me off with short books, but when it comes down to it, he's just a bad ass character which I think I've described in another thread. My favorite wolverine book is by chris claremont and frank miller. fuckin a righteous. it was that book that gave wolverine his depth, his soul.

new avengers title right now is the fuckin sit, but it has been since day 1.

and as far as good things that've come from civil war, have you picked up a spiderman recently? jesus christ, thats some good shit gettin ready to go down...probably the most disturbed spiderman i've ever seen. he's ready to throw down harder than he ever has, an if you dont know why, I wont tell you, cause the shock of it got me.

and captain america is fucking dead, that was some fuckin shit. I just start gettin into this motherfucker, and now he's dead, I couldn't believe it. Well, I could believe it, it almost had to happen that way, but shit....shit.that was quite the comic though.

and as far as my favorite trades,
Watchmen makes it right at the top of the list, and the dark phoenix saga, gifted, no mans land, dark knight, shit a bunch more, but i have to go eat dinner with my mom.

peace.

i never could keep up with civil war. im neevr one to go and pick up each issue. i wait for TPBs or just pick them up when i can. that makes the storyline of such a large crossover nearly impossible to process. i did read the beginnings of the civil war spiderman though. im glad the stark suit is gone. ive been more into the ultimate universe though (the ultimates, ultimate spiderman, etc.). House of M has basically killed all interest in marvel for me though. Runaways is the only thing keeping me going, and its coming to a close.

I'm an Image comics kid (note: the maxx), but I love Sandman- amazing art. I'm not a fan of Grant Morrisson and this recent wave of highly perfected passionless art that seems to follow soap-opera comics (eg. xmen: did they really have to mess around with the marriage?). Frank Miller's obviously a classic, but I still haven't managed to catch 300. I also like to grab indy trash every now and then to see what the hell drug users are up to these days. Interesting stuff.

Sandman is one of the best things to ever come out as a series. Gaimans a genius.

Civil war was a seriously badass read/ the core 7 books are really all you need. and why did house of m ruin marvel for you? I love the fact that marvel got rid of 90 percent of the mutant population. its crazy, and my favorite mutie got his memories back because of it. righteous.
See, I pretty much don't like the ultimate universe with the exception of the ultimate fantastic four which is probably one of the best books ive read in years.

Esophagus

House of M was a shit storyline. A good concept that was very very poorly executed.

My faves in the comic book world would be
100 bullets, way cool storyline, guy shows up to someone whos life is in the dumps, hands them a gun with 100 bullets and a packet of info on the person whos responsible for their life being screwed. They can use the gun and the 100 bullets with impunity, cops pick them up, they get their gun back. Unfortunatly I havent been keeping up with that series. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/100_Bullets

I have all the Milk and Cheese comics, but that was more of something I was into when I was a teenager http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milk_and_cheese

The sonic comics from the people who do the archie comics have lately been an addiction for some reason (damn my girlfriend for getting me into them).

Calgary Comiccon yesterday. What an amazing time. Met Paul Dini, Brian Wood, Gail Simone, and Angus Oblong. Got a bunch of autographs, and an invite to Oblong's art show (im sure he gave them to everyone). Bought a bunch of neat stuff. Wish I'd stayed longer though. Bruce Timm and Bob Bowen were doing sketches, and Lou Ferrigno was doing autographs and pictures. No way was I paying $25 to get a headshot of the Hulk though. His booth was completely empty, because no one was going to put that out.

Nice, I love the second picture.

I found a website with all of the old Lois Lane comic covers once. Wow they were hilarious. I'll link if I can find it.
