My school has a really lame page blocker.
Your organization's Internet use policy restricts access to this web page at this time.

Reason:
The Websense category "Message Boards and Clubs" is filtered.
Url:The reasons range from "Peer to Peer File Sharing" to "Non-Traditional Religions and Occult and Folklore" and more. It gets really annoying. Theyve blocked just about everything. Somehwo theyve missed Rorta though.

So basically I just though people could help compile a list of free web games, or sites to watch movies on. I figure as the list gets bigger I'll just test them and see if any of them work here. I basically subsist on the Rorta arcades at school, and the forum at home.

You have three options:

1.) The one I'd recommend: Install Firefox.

2.) If you don't ahve sufficient privledges, then in IE go to ->tools menu ->internet options-> connections tab-> LAN Settings-> untick the boxes.

2.) If you don't have access to internet options, then:
http://www.proxy4free.com/page1.html
http://proxy-list.org/en/
http://www.samair.ru/proxy/

Those sites might be blocked, but just google for free proxies until you find one that's not blocked.

There you go, no more websense :sgrin:

I don't have the privileges to install firefox, and none of the boxes are checked in LAN settings. Both are options I've tried before. Hmm... I guess I'll try looking for a proxy, see if that does anything.

Found a few unblocked proxy finders. No luck with actual proxys. But I don't have privileges to download the finder. Maybe I'll find one at home tonight and bring it in on a jump drive.

you don't need to download a finder, just when you're at home, get some addys, and write them down. then connect through proxy...

But I can't even get a proxy... I think that was explained.

Install this (http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable) on a USB memory stick.

My school uses websense as well. Here is a list of unblocked proxies, these proxies work because they use a secure connection (https://) The only drawback is that javascript is disabled.

https://yellowcream.com
https://mouseroad.com
https://housecancer.com

These are just a few examples of the dozens of proxies you'll have access to after signing up on the mailing list found on all of these websites.

All three of these proxies are blocked if I type them in, but work if I follow your link. Sweet deal, thanks.

ps
Welcome to Rorta.

They might not work because your not typing the 's' in https://, this is an important part because it ensures that no one else(person or program) can view what you are. Therefore disabling websenses ability to block it. Although it eventually will be added to a list of blocked websites, so be sure to sign up on the mailing list.

Even when I shut off the "remove java" part of yellow cream it wont let me watch any videos, or play any games, is there ANY way around this that you know of?

I don't think its possible, but if your trying to get on youtube at school just type in www. before you type youtube and that will work. Its blocked at my school because of 'permit access' or something.

I don't think its possible, but if your trying to get on youtube at school just type in www. before you type youtube and that will work. Its blocked at my school because of 'permit access' or something. Its questionable content on mine, and doesn't work even with the www. I had tried before. I'm not to worried aobut videos though, I have plenty of video sites that do work. I just tohught that perhaps I could check out some new videos since the games didn't work (even the ones that work witohut it) so I just gave up.
