Risky business?
Scenario:
A graffiti writer creates a website showing his work and the work of other writers circulating in his city/town/borough. The content shows photographs of graffiti which has been done on city council without the owner?s permission, (thus being criminal damage). It also contains photographs of sketches drawn by writers. Questions: Could the police use a computer IP to link a website owner to a graffiti writer? Would the police be able to get IP information from a web host company in relation to art crimes and link that person to graffiti in his/her town? Do disclaimers (without court approval) make any differnce? Is it risky to use a graffiti tag, in ones MSN address (for example, people who know you and live in the same area are potential narcs) and could the police use an MSN addy to proove vandalism?

I'd say posting graffiti as your own COULD run a risk, but it's unlikely. I don't think your average uniform cop is going to be searching the 'net for clues on a criminal damage case.
You could post anything you wanted, if you claim you took a picture of some graffiti you noticed. Nothing wrong or illegal about that. |

Ya see my mate has being done for tagging on two seperate occasions, both times the police were tipped off and a house search resulted, they found his practice tags and what not in his room, thus, he got charged.

Unless you have caused damage running into several thousands of pounds, police are unlikely to be scouring the internet for clues. But you can never be too careful. If you don't wanna get baited, keep it off ur PC cos rozzas will try and check your computer if they want. And besides...graffiti is for the streets...in order to appreciate graffiti you must see it for yourself, not through a computer screen!
And keep sketches, drawings, paint & anything incriminating away from your house. There is a forum that i particularly hate: http://www.12ozprophet.com but you may find a lot of info and chat about these kinds of topics as it is a graffiti orientated site.

Yeah, thanks mate. I've been arrested twice for graffiti, both times I was grassed on which resulted in the police issuing warrants to search my house, both times they found ALL my practice tags etc, you'd have thought from the first arrest I'd have kept my room clean of all tags but I didn't, shit happens. Some may be thinking why even keep tagging but it's fucking addictive, belive me....
I aint too keen on 12oz prophet, the only graff sites I vist are artcrimes.org and bombingscience.com the third and last is the supplier I use which shall remain anon in this thread, why? I don't fucking know... My ?3's worth... Thankyou,

While we are a diverse crowd here at Rorta, we do prefer our members to post in English.

there is a 0% chance you will get busted for posting graffiti, no matter whose it is, on the interweb.
srsly. and if you are actually paranoid, just keep it online but off your computer. there is nothing they can do, since you can always denydenydeny. |

Cops are too stupid to figure out internet in the first place. I remember 2 years ago some news on a mainstream media site (was foxnews i think) freaking about "omgzor cops find terrorist website".
Know what they displayed in the background while bitching at how dangerous the net is for childrens and bla bla bla ? Totse BB & RogueSci ... Ok, so it took them 5 years to figure out totse and rogue... And they say they debunk terrorist plots over the internet ? Bullshit for fools. |

I doubt anything would come of it mate...
T put this img he took on the front page of rorta.com and nothing happened. It's quite a bit more serious than a bit of spray paint... ![]() |
